Import your existing chats
Bring the chats you already have in Claude Code and Codex CLI into Mach Studio, without moving the originals.
You do not have to start over. Chats you already have in Claude Code or Codex CLI can be brought into Mach Studio, where you can search them and keep working in them like any other chat. Your history is copied, never moved: the originals stay exactly where they are, and the agent in your terminal keeps working as before.
Import is available for Claude Code and Codex CLI. OpenCode chats start fresh in Mach Studio.
Import past chats
- Open Extensions → Harnesses and click the agent's card. The agent needs to be turned on first.
- Scroll to Chat history and click Find past chats. Mach Studio lists the chats it finds, with each chat's title, the folder it ran in, and when it was last active.
- Every chat is selected to begin with. Untick any you do not want.
- Click Import followed by the number of selected chats.
The imported chats appear in your sidebar. Open one and send a message to continue it with the same agent.
What happens to the originals
Nothing. Importing copies each chat into Mach Studio and leaves the original in place. You can run Find past chats again later to pick up new chats; ones you have already imported are skipped, and Mach Studio tells you so.
Deleting a chat from the agent
Some agents let you tidy up from the same list. When a trash icon shows next to a chat, clicking it permanently deletes that chat from the agent itself. Any copy you already imported into Mach Studio is kept. Mach Studio asks you to confirm before deleting.
With more than one account
Imported chats are attached to the account listed first on the agent's page, so they run as that account when you continue them. If you want a chat on a different account afterwards, hand it off from the sidebar; see Switch agents and models.
