Workspace tabs
Open side chats, Files, Terminal, Browser and Changes next to your chat, split them into panes, and pop a chat out into its own window.
A session is a project plus the chats working in it. Everything you need sits in one tab strip: the chat, the files it touches, a terminal, a browser, and the diff. Open what you need and arrange it how you like.
Open a tab
Click + in the tab strip to add a tab. The menu offers Side Chat, Browser, Terminal, Files, Changes, and Summary. Each also has a shortcut:
| Tab | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Side Chat | Cmd+Shift+T |
| Browser | Cmd+Alt+B |
| Terminal | Cmd+Alt+T |
| Files | Cmd+Alt+E |
| Changes | Cmd+Alt+R |
| Summary | Cmd+Alt+S |
Cmd+T starts a new session. All of these can be changed in Shortcuts.
Side chats
A side chat is another conversation in the same session, on the same project, beside the one you are in. Use it to ask a quick question or start a second task without losing your place. Right-click a chat tab to Rename, Fork, Export, Close Tab, or Delete it.
Files
Browse the project folder, open files as tabs, and edit them in place. Type in Search files to filter the tree. When the chat runs in a worktree, Files shows the worktree.
Terminal
A shell that opens in the project folder, so you can run tests or scripts next to the chat. If it stops responding, click Restart terminal.
Browser
A browser inside Mach Studio. Open pages yourself, and let the agent browse too. Mention an open tab from the composer with @ under Tabs to bring it into the conversation. See Browser use.
Changes and Summary
Changes shows the agent's diffs and lets you commit or open a pull request. See Review changes and pull requests. Summary shows what the session is working on and what each chat has done.
Split panes
Drag a tab toward an edge of a pane to split the view, so a chat and its files or terminal sit side by side. Drop a tab onto another pane's tab strip to move it there, and drag the divider to resize.
Pop out a chat
Right-click a chat in the sidebar and choose Pop Out to put it in a small floating window of its own, handy for keeping an eye on a long task. Open in New Window opens the whole session in another full window instead.
Projects, branches and worktrees
Point the agent at a folder, choose the branch it works on, and use a worktree to keep its changes off your own checkout.
Review changes and pull requests
Read every diff the agent makes, stage and commit from the Changes tab, and create or review pull requests without leaving Mach Studio.
