Skills
Save instructions the agent can reuse, write your own, or install one from the marketplace.
A skill is a set of instructions the agent can pick up whenever a task calls for it. Write down how you like a release checklist run, how your team formats a weekly report, or the exact steps for a repetitive chore, and the agent follows it every time instead of asking again.
Each skill has a name, a short description of when to use it, and the instructions themselves. The agent reads the description to decide when a skill fits, then follows the instructions.
Create your own
- Open Extensions → Skills and click Create skill.
- Enter a Skill name, a Description of what it does and when the agent should use it, and an optional Category.
- Click Create skill. The new skill opens with a starter document that has a When To Use section and a numbered Instructions list.
- Click Edit, replace the starter text with your steps, and click Save.
Keep a skill focused on one repeatable workflow. Short, specific steps work better than long essays. Your skills appear under Your Skills in the Extensions sidebar, and you can open one at any time to refine it.
Install from the marketplace
The Skills page also searches skills published by the community and by model providers, including skills.sh, Anthropic, OpenAI, Hugging Face, and ClawHub.
- Sign in with Syzygy. The marketplace is searched through your account.
- Use the search box on Extensions → Skills to find a skill, or filter by Registry, Category, or Status.
- Click a card to preview the full skill, then click Install.
Installed skills sit alongside the ones you wrote and work the same way. Some marketplace skills ship with extra files; Mach Studio installs the instructions document, and the card notes this with Bundled files.
Use skills in a chat
You do not have to invoke a skill by name. The agent checks your skills when it plans a task and uses the ones that match. To see or adjust which skills are available in a chat, open the tools picker in the composer and look under Skills. Manage skills takes you back to the Skills page.
