Cloud models and your own API keys

Use the frontier models included with your Syzygy account, or connect your own provider keys for free.

Local models cover most of the work. When you want a frontier model, Mach Studio gives you two ways to get one: cloud models included with your Syzygy account, or your own API keys from any provider you already pay.

Included cloud models

Sign in with Syzygy and a Cloud section appears in the composer's model picker with a curated set of leading models. There are no keys to manage and nothing to configure. Choose a model and send.

Cloud usage is metered in credits. Pro members get $20 of inference credits every month as part of the $20 plan; without Pro, you pay as you go for what you use. Local models and your own keys never use credits. See Plans for the details.

To choose which cloud models show up in the picker, open Settings → Inference. The Cloud models list has a switch for each model, and Refresh models pulls in the latest catalog.

Bring your own API keys (free)

If you already have an account with a model provider, use it directly. Mach Studio stores the key on this computer and routes requests straight to the provider. There is no charge from Syzygy and no account required.

  1. Open Settings → Inference and scroll to Custom Providers.
  2. Click Add provider and pick one:
    • Unified gateways: OpenRouter, AI Gateway
    • Direct providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, MiniMax, Kimi / Moonshot, Z.AI / GLM, DeepSeek
    • View more options reveals more, including Alibaba Cloud (DashScope), OpenCode Zen, OpenCode Go, and Kilo Code.
  3. Paste your API key, choose a Default model, and click Save provider.

The provider now appears as its own section in the composer's model picker, with its models listed. You can add several providers and switch between them per chat.

Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint

Running your own inference server, or using a provider that is not on the list? Choose Custom provider under Custom in the Add provider menu. Give it a Label, enter the Base URL of the endpoint, pick a Default model, and add an API key if the endpoint needs one. It behaves like any other provider in the picker.

Managing providers

Each configured provider has a Provider Settings button where you can change the default model, paste a new key, or clear the saved one with Remove key. A custom endpoint can also be removed entirely with Remove provider. Saved keys are never displayed again; the dialog only confirms that one is stored.
