Run a session on another computer

Start a session that runs on a paired computer, using its projects, models, and agents, from the composer you already know.

Keep your heavy work on the machine built for it. With two computers paired, you can start a session that runs on the other one, with its projects, its models, and its agents, from the computer in your hands. The composer looks and works the same.

Start a remote session

  1. Click New session in the sidebar.
  2. In the composer, open the Environment picker. Under Remote, choose the other computer.
  3. Open the Working directory picker beside it. It now lists the projects that computer has shared. Pick one.
  4. Choose a harness and model as usual. The choices come from the other computer.
  5. Send your first message. The session is created on the other computer and runs there.

Nothing is fixed until you send. Before the first message you can change the project, the environment, or go back to this computer, and the session returns to exactly where it was.

While it runs

  • The session sits in your sidebar like any other, with a remote mark on its row. Hovering the row names the computer it runs on.
  • Files, terminal, changes, and review all read from the other computer. Downloads and your clipboard stay on this one.
  • New chats you add to the session are created on the other computer too.
  • Renaming, pinning, and archiving work from either side.

If the other computer is unavailable

The other computer needs to be awake, signed in, and running Mach Studio. If it is asleep, the composer says so and the Send button explains what is missing, in the same words as the picker. If it has not shared any projects, open a project there first.
