Run a session in the cloud
Start a session on a cloud environment, watch it wake, and move between cloud and local work.
A cloud session is an ordinary Mach Studio session that happens to run on a cloud environment. You use the same composer, the same sidebar, and the same tabs. The difference is that the work continues after you close your laptop, and you can pick it up from any device signed in to your account.
Start a cloud session
- Click New session in the sidebar.
- In the composer, open the Environment picker and choose your environment under Cloud.
- Open the Working directory picker and choose a project on the environment.
- Pick a harness and model. Cloud sessions run on Mach Studio's cloud models, so the model menu shows the Cloud section.
- Send your first message.
Your message appears right away. If the environment was asleep, a Starting environment step appears under it while the environment wakes, followed by project preparation. A ready environment skips the startup step. If startup fails, the message stays in place with a Retry option, so nothing you typed is lost.
Choosing an environment or project never wakes it. Only sending does.
Keep working from anywhere
- Chats on a cloud environment appear in the sidebar of every computer signed in to your account, marked with a cloud icon.
- Opening a cloud chat shows its history without waking the environment. Send a message when you want it to continue.
- Files, terminal, and changes read from the environment.
Move between cloud and local work
Before the first message, a session is not committed to anywhere. Open the Environment picker and choose this computer to come back to local work, or a paired computer to go there instead. Everything in the composer stays as it was.
After the first message, the session belongs to the environment it started on. To work locally, start a new session with this computer selected. Your cloud sessions stay in the sidebar, ready when you return.
